Brisbane Writers Festival 2015

June 25, 2015 By Deb

I’m absolutely thrilled to have been invited to participate in the Brisbane Writers Festival this year. I’ll be taking part in the kids program as well as the adults program, and can’t wait to meet the other readers and writers attending the festival!

I’ll be talking about my books and process, and particularly how I use stories from the public realm in my own work. So I’ll be talking about the tragic events behind The Break, and The Amazing Spencer Gray, and I may even dip into the true story behind my forthcoming children’s book, At My Door. I also love sharing my stories of living in the cloud forest in Costa Rica, which I morphed into 90 Packets of Instant Noodles, a YA book about a boy who is sent by his family to live in the Western Australian bush for 90 days. And I’ll talk about the challenges facing Ally Queen in Have You Seen Ally Queen? as she deals with a mentally ill parent, and moving to a new town.

So please come along and say hello – I’d love to have a chat and sign your books.
